We spent most of our time working out, watching X-
Files, and playing video games. We would take Nicole and
Nick out of school when a new Harry Potter movie came out.
I remember that Nick’s best friend’s mom wouldn’t let her

son watch Harry Potter because they were Christians. I didn’t
understand why reading or watching Harry Potter was a
problem. “It was a just a movie,” I thought, but I respected
her decision. 8

Later, Nick understandably wanted to live with his
dad, for once, since he only saw him on weekends and during

the Summer. We all wanted him to stay, but I understood
that the court would allow him to have a say. It was difficult
to adjust. I struggled emotionally knowing that I was only
going to see him on certain weekends and only for a short
time during the Summer.

After that, I had to work long hours as a Paralegal for

a Plaintiff attorney. It had felt as though my job was harming
my marriage. I was tired when I got home. Since I had always
