the DVD. I began preaching it to Nicole, but she wasn’t
interested, which was good. I had received the DVD from
salespeople involved in my business. It was suggested that I
use it as a tool to motivate myself and my team. I trusted the
philosophy and didn’t question anything. This book is
popular. Oprah Winfrey has promoted it.
The basic premise of The Secret is self-rule and
treating a “god” the “universe” like a 'genie in a bottle’ to
answer prayers. Supposedly, people who practiced The
Secret found the key to success. Well, since I hadn’t been very
successful, I began doing everything that I was taught.
According to many books, the key to life was being “happy”
and “fulfilled,” and the only way to be happy is to live your
life the way that you want.
Osteen much, but I have heard that he does not talk about sin or Hell or
following Jesus Christ instead of self. If that is true, then those are red
flags. Also, I had noticed that Oprah Winfrey had rejected Jesus Christ
as Lord, has promoted The Secret, and has also attended Lakewood
Church. https://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/26/arts/26secr.html
Also, in many prosperity gospel churches the worship bands may
create music that seems to hold sound doctrine, or the songs are vague
and could be talking about Jesus Christ, but when we hear the pastors'
doctrine, or look at the books the pastor promotes, we can see false
doctrine that turns people away from the truth, which means turning
people away from finding freedom from all kinds of sickness and
spiritual death. It can be hard to discern. If a church doesn't talk about
Jesus Christ being God and exalt Him over us, doesn’t talk about sin,
doesn’t talk about repenting of sin, and doesn’t talk about following
Jesus Christ and make Him the center, then something is wrong. In
addition, in speaking about false teachers, Jesus said, “Ye shall know
them by their fruits...” Matthew 7:16 KJV
