24 May 2025 Abbott UK Company Car Handbook29.1 COLLECTIONSArval%u2019s appointed agent will collect the vehicle and it will be inspected in line with the BVRLA fair wear and tear standard. Drivers should be present at the inspection, as this is your opportunity tohighlight any existing damage. However, the final inspection is carried out at ARVAL%u2019s de-fleet centre and it is this inspection which determines the level of damage for which you will be charged if it is outside of BVRLA standards by a qualified engineer.The process for the assessment of damage to a company car being returned either for end of lease orbeing returned due to current driver leaving the business the following actions will be taken:%u2022 The driver will agree the collection of the vehicle time and date with Arval or the Fleet Coordinator%u2022 The vehicle will be collected by a collection agent who will make an initial assessment of the vehicle with the employee present. It is strongly advised the employee takes photographs of any damage which the initial assessment highlights. The employee should ensure the collection agent notes this on the collection sheet to assist in any dispute once the vehicles has returned to the de-fleet centre.%u2022 Please ensure all cables are in the vehicles when collected. %u2022 The driver will be required to sign the inspection and will receive a printed copy. Employees are to ensure they have a copy of the collection note for their records. It is critical employees note and take photographic evidence using their mobile phone or other device to support their opinion. This applies especially to alloy wheels, chips on body work especially to the front of the vehicle, we recommend you take a photograph of each wheelof the vehicle.%u2022 It is important that employees understand this is not the final assessment as this is carried out by a qualified body shop engineer, which the collection driver is not.%u2022 The company will receive a report from the qualified body shop engineer.%u2022 Any damage reported above the BVRLA standard will be charged to the employee.%u2022 Employees who wish to appeal the qualified body shop engineers report will contact the Fleet Coordinator.
