Symptoms and signs of CAD
✓ Angina /Angina pectoris or chest paid is the most common presentation of ischemia

✓ Dyspnoea

Types of Coronary Artery Disease
a) Acute Coronary Syndrome: This is an acute condition which is usually
associated with sudden rupture of the plaque inside the coronary artery.
b) Unstable Angina is the occurrence of chest pain and ECG changes.
c) Myocardial infarction: prolonged period of blocked blood supply to a part
of the heart results in death of the tissue due to inadequate supply of oxygen.
Treatment of CAD involves
a) Reducing Risk factors
b) Medications prescribed for Hypertension, Diabetes, Abnormal Lipid
Levels and for CAD
c) Invasive and Surgical procedures
d) Coronary Angioplasty
e) Coronary Bypass Graft Surgery
Complications
i.) Heart Failure
ii.) Arrhythmia or abnormal heart beat
iii.)Sudden cardiac arrest
iv.) Recurrence of ischemia or infarction
