Luca Mariotti
M.P.S Global Development | College of Agriculture and Life Sciences
Luca is a M.P.S. candidate in global development. Her research interests
involve social enterprises and food systems in Sub-Saharan Africa, with
a particular focus on economic development through agricultural
projects. Prior to Cornell, Luca worked in a sustainable tea company in
Bangalore, India, and is a recently returned Peace Corps volunteer from
Senegal. Her vision is to facilitate projects that encourage employment
and economic diversification among women and youth in Sub-Saharan
Africa.
Annelies Parke
NatureLock LLP As a sophomore in development sociology, Annelies serves as the
B.S., Development Sociology | College of Agriculture and Life Sciences
Outreach Chair with Habitat for Humanity at Cornell. She has
volunteered with Midnight Run – an organization in New York City and
Relay for life – a fundraising event of the American Cancer Society.
During the summers, she works as a mentor and in Public Relations for
Camp Kesem, which supports youth whose families have been affected
by cancer.
Valentina Xu
B.S. Hotel Administration | SC Johnson College of Business
Valentina is a junior studying hospitality with minors in international
relations and real estate. With her passion in social entrepreneurship and
international development, she serves as the co-president of the Social
Enterprise Network at Cornell. Previously, she concentrated her
volunteerism on helping a member of an underrepresented population
start a business in the food sector. She is interested in how hospitality,
specifically tourism, could promote rural development. She hopes to
eventually work with international organizations to promote
development through tourism and social entrepreneurship.
