B.S., Agricultural Sciences | College of Agriculture and Life Sciences
In 2018, Bichara interned in the department of Production, Quality
Assurance, and R&D at STA, a food industry in Niger, focused on the
production of therapeutic foods for malnourished children. Bichara
researched aflatoxin levels in groundnuts post-harvest and applied her
food analysis skills in the quality assurance laboratory. In 2020, she
worked on financial and human resources management with CARL
Group, a youth-led private agribusiness company in Rwanda. This past
winter, she created a market entry strategy in West Africa for Infinite
Foods, a Botswana go-to-market platform for emerging plant-based food
brands. Bichara is also a student manager at Mattin's Café with Cornell.
                                              Alyssa Mashek
Sereledi Farms Alyssa “Aly” is pursuing her master’s in global development with a focus

M.P.S., Global Development | College of Agriculture and Life Sciences

on empowering women and children through nutrition and agribusiness.
Aly’s current research interest includes the societal role women can play
as business leaders, and how this effects health, education, and
development; particularly among the youth. Before coming to Cornell,
Aly was living in rural Far-Western Nepal with the Peace Corps’ Food
Security Program. In Nepal, Aly was focusing on nutrition education,
home vegetable gardening, mushroom cultivation, and fruit tree planting.
Aly’s greatest joy in life is human connection, and how, something as
simple as food, can be the most powerful unifier in the world.

agriculture, specifically small holder farmers in the coffee sector. She is
especially interested in project management, business administration, and
