1 - Building trust and recognizing inner drivers - the theoretical foundations of profiling³.
To explain executive coaching, the goal is not to develop a
manager or executive into a world champion in - for example -
the long jump. Rather, the focus is on the project of testing the
insights gained in the field of sports for their usefulness in other
areas. It is the same with profiling: It can be helpful and useful
to transfer methods and procedures used by the FBI and the
Criminal Investigation Department to customer
communication, employee management and employee
recruiting.
This reminds us of the World Cup summer fairy tale in Germany.
The motivational speeches of national coach Jürgen Klinsmann
went around the world back then. In enthusiastic and motivating
words, the soccer coach teased top performance out of the DFB
soccer players. Klinsmann and his coaching staff were advised
by the sports psychologist and mental coach Hans-Dieter
Hermann, among others. He made a decisive contribution to the
success of the soccer World Cup summer fairy tale. In an
interview, the sports psychologist (Hermann 2008, p. 133)
expressed the opinion that everyone can achieve more than they
think. However, in order to activate untapped potential, one must
train and practice, practice, practice: "First and foremost, we train
cognitive skills, i.e., processing and dealing with information.
Concentration on the point, re-evaluating a situation, switching
gears, it's also about self-confidence, the stress level, short-term
self-motivation after mistakes. The head can only really play well,
so to speak, when the most important situations and processes
are ready to be called up."
This reads like an action manual for the successful
salesperson or a top employee or a top executive.
