Vogelhuber, Scheelen - What people really want
Profiling³ broadens the perspective and enables trust to
be built by better assessing one's own personality and the
personality, character and mentality of another person.
That's what it's all about - not more, but also not less. The
following story from Oliver illustrates this:
The lollipop Olli
As a trainer and coach, I work with ATP and WTA tennis pros. And I
started coaching children and giving them tennis lessons when I was
about twelve years old. Of course, at that time I was concerned about
how I could get the kids to participate diligently and train properly and
trust me. After all, the problem with motivation is not an invention of
modern times. As a small incentive and motivational candy, I bought
some lollipops at that time to give to the children. This was done in all
innocence and worked out great - I quickly got rid of the nickname Lolli-
Olli.
By the way, this did not work for all the children; some of them were
more likely to be encouraged to train diligently because they loved the
game of tennis for its own sake. Or because they liked to train in a
group and as a team, i.e. to get something going together with
t h e i r comrades.
Anyway, word got around about my talent as a young trainer, and the
children told me at home how much fun they were having and how
much they were learning. So it's no wonder that first some of the
mothers, and then some of the fathers, came to me and bought training
lessons from me - by then, of course, I was already a bit older.
