which values are the most significant for a person. And usually it is not
one motive, but several motives that drive a person.
Certainly, at the time as a moderator I wanted to inspire and convince
people, and I can't deny a certain tendency toward self-promotion
today. I enjoy leading the way, guiding other people, moderating them
and supporting them in a certain direction. But it is just as important for
me to convince with independent thoughts on the intellectual level.
And my tennis lessons at a young age showed moreover: My behavior
was and is often shaped by the drive to help other people and to
support them in using their talents.
Goodbye to pigeonholing: the six drivers
Pigeonholing usually arises when we get to know a person only
in part - often also: only want to get to know him in part! - and
judge them. We pick out one aspect of his personality or one of
his characteristics and judge the whole person on this basis.
Avoid the halo effect known from social psychology. Rather, it is
important to have an overall view, a holistic view of the whole
person from several perspectives. Equally important is the
competence to draw conclusions about the motive or motives
that drive a person from the conversations and contacts with that
person and other observations. And this in turn is facilitated by
models that enable us to make this assessment in the first place.
