Professional Practice: Guideline for Quantity Surveyor Chapter 5
Work is a prefix that describes the things that are not in the list of ingredients or
otherwise indicated in the tender, but needed to implement and facilitate the course of
the project.
Part of this is an essential part priced (if applicable) by the tenderer for a portion
of the project cost. In general, it refers to matters that are required or performed by the
contractor before, during and after the completion of the project include:
Information or perform the procedure but not a cost
Directions or conditions of contracts that must be followed
The matters which must be implemented and cost.
Typically, the matters include in the list of preliminaries are as follows:
Things should be done by the contractor before starting work.
Things done or required during the construction period.
Things are only required at the end of the construction process.
Other items included in the list of preliminary work (preliminaries) are as scope of
work, measuring equipment, first aid kit, machineries, temporary drains, store and etc
