Quantity Surveying: Guideline for Quantity Surveyor Chapter 6

6.7 Characteristics Analyze Bill of Quantities or Schedule of Rate

                   1. Arithmetical Error

This may happen in quantity multiplication with rate unit, in mix in every page, in
changing total in every page to collection, in additional calculation percent to on

general summary or when move to the form of tender.
This error usually involves a mistake involving figures such as
                          multiplication and total amount.

This error is a serious problem and should be avoided by the tenderer as
it will affect the tender price. Multiplication error : error occured when multiplying

the quantity by the price .Summation error : error occured when calculating total
amount of one page of Bill of Quantities.

                   2. Mistake in Pricing

This is an error in pricing and not a question of whether the rates are high or low.
Pricing errors can sometimes occur during changes from surface to linear
measurements, contniuous estimators using basic volume or details that require

surface measurement, or even basic surface rates used for items that require
                          linear measurements.

Such a mistake is a serious error, not a mistake. Another form of pricing
error is due to details that are usually priced but have not been priced.
The same thing but in different parts of the bill have been put into

different prices without any reason. This difference is usually due to the estimator
forgetting that the same thing has happened before or that the estimator does not

refer to the amount previously set. These errors often occur in housing contracts
when there are separate bills for each type of home.
