INWARD TRANSFORMATION
innermost part of us that was dead to Him. It is
instantaneous. We become new creations in Christ.
Unlike the spirit, the body and the soul are not
recreated immediately in the new birth. The body is
blessed and can receive many benefits afforded to it
by the atonement through the new birth but is still
subject to human limitations, including aging and
eventually death. Hence, the redemption of the
human body will not be fully realized in us until the
resurrection.
“ Jesus answered, ‘Truly, truly I say to you, unless

a man is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter
the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh

is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is
spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be

born again.’’” John 3:5-7
In what ways does it help me understand that my
spirit is fully alive as a believer, my soul is in the
process of renewal, and my body, although blessed,
is awaiting its final transformation?
DAY EIGHT:
THE ONGOING EFFECTS OF
THE NEW BIRTH
In some ways, there are three aspects to our
salvation. We find ourselves in three spheres: The
past, the present, and the future. We have been
saved. It is past tense for those who have received it.
We are in the process of being saved. This is in the
present tense. And yet, we will be saved. There is still
a future aspect to it.
In the new birth, our spirits were immediately
reborn and changed. We passed from death to life.
But the new birth did not entirely and instantly
transform our mind as it did our spirit. During this
life, we are in the process of this reformation of our
