Depending on the incident, violators of the policy can be suspended
from school, face expulsion, or incur criminal charges.
Is sexual harassment occurring? Ask yourself the following
questions…
Is the behavior of a sexual nature?
Is the behavior unwelcome?
Is the behavior part of a pattern of repeated behavior?
Does the behavior make you feel uncomfortable?
Does the behavior interfere with your ability to learn?
What steps can I take if I am being sexually harassed?
First, communicate your displeasure to the person who is offending
you. Let the harasser know that you do not welcome the conduct and
you want it to stop.
Second, report problems or complaints to any teacher, counselor, or
administrator. Your concerns will be reported to an assistant
principal. Students should raise questions or complaints about
sexual harassment as soon as possible.
What if I witness harassing behavior?
Report it. Even if the person experiencing the behavior doesn’t seem
to be bothered, it is still sexual harassment if it makes others feel
unsafe or uncomfortable.
Is there a special form I should use to report sexual harassment?
Yes. You can obtain a Confidential Sexual Complaint Form in the
Counseling Center or from any administrator, or you can submit the
Confidential Incident Form on our Brooke Point Home Page. This
form will help you document information necessary to properly
research your claim. Be assured, retaliation against a person who
files a formal charge for harassment is prohibited and is grounds for
disciplinary action, up to and including expulsion.
