Stafford County Public Schools (SCPS) high school students shall be
scheduled for a full school day unless the student is enrolled in a
cooperative work-study program. A student who is approved to participate
in a school-sponsored field trip or other activity shall be counted as present.
The Superintendent or designee must approve exceptions to a full day
schedule on an individual basis.
It is the responsibility of a parent/guardian to notify the school of any
absences that occur. Parents/guardians are expected to provide a
notification including the date(s) and reason for the student’s absence from
school upon the student’s return to school. Notification will be documented
and maintained until the end of the school year.
Tardies
A student who arrives at school after the 7:40 am bell is considered tardy to
school.
A student who enters the classroom after the tardy bell for each block is
considered tardy to class.
UNEXCUSED tardies include but are not limited to: oversleeping, car
trouble, missed bus, and any other reason not listed as excused in the
Student Code of Conduct. Excessive excused tardiness will require doctor,
dental or court documentation.
Students will have two days to bring a tardy note into the attendance office.
Consequences For Tardies
Tardies to School or Class are counted per semester.
1st Tardy to School or Class -Warning
2nd Tardy to School or Class-Warning
3rd Tardy to School or Class -Call home
4th Tardy to School or Class -After school detention and suspended parking pass
for 5 days
5th Tardy to School or Class -After school detention and suspended parking pass
for 10 days
6th Tardy to School or Class -In-School Suspension and suspended parking pass
for 15 Days
7th Tardy to School or Class -In-School Suspension Saturday and suspended
parking pass for the remainder of the semester
