Responsibility/Control
You control the site.
You as the site manager are the authority on the site and all contractors whether
domestic or directly appointed by Co-op answer to you. Please ensure that you
explain this to all contractors at site induction.
Ensure that you fully understand your company’s management systems and site
rules. These should have been explained to you at your company induction and
will help you execute your site manager duties.
As a site manager you are empowered to stop planned work activities or
activities that are underway if you believe they are unsafe and pose a risk to the
health or safety of customers, colleagues or contractors.
Use the disciplinary standards set by your company to control contractors on
site and explain these to operatives at induction.
Your company’s HSE Managers and Co-op’s RHSE Managers/Advisors are
there to support you. Please ensure you use them when necessary and give
them any relevant feedback.
(Contact details for Co-op RHSE Advisors/Managers are on page 9 and
in the Co-op Property Code of Conduct).
