Plans Gone Awry

s I began to prepare for Big Poppa’s move, little did I know

God had other plans for me and my daddy. I had to reschedule
Big Poppa’s move date 3 times in September. After leaving the

summit, I started planning for Daddy’s celebration in Kinston and had
arranged for the mayor and many of the dignitaries to participate in

making sure Daddy had a great going away party. I had collected all
the newspaper articles written about Daddy throughout his career to

present to him and everyone at the party.

The first time I had to reschedule the party and the move it was

because Daddy had to go back into the hospital, although it was not

for anything serious. On the second date, the town flooded – the first
time in 50 years … party canceled. On the third date, Daddy had to
return to the hospital. He stayed longer at that time and required more

rehabilitation. Then I began to hear from some of Daddy's friends. He

was not feeling good about moving with me and leaving his beloved
city of Kinston.
