eturning home allowed me to retreat to a place of safety. With

Mother and Daddy, I was able to become a child again. I did not
have to be the CEO, who had to close my business and make

all the major decisions that would impact families, I did not have to
be crazy Leroy’s wife, and I did not have to put on the “Face.” I could

just crawl into their arms like I did as a child and feel the safety of their
love. I received the boost of unconditional love I needed to go back

to Maryland to face what needed to occur. I returned to Maryland and
prepared to tell the staff and our clients we would close our doors in

April.

After the holidays, during the first week in January, we assembled
the staff to inform them of our decision to close the business. Tyrone,
always the salesman, wanted to give them hope about the

opportunities he had on the plate to save us. I would not allow Tyrone

to give the staff hopes that there was a chance we could stay open.
Through my experiences with the other companies I had worked for,
