settlement date and I excused myself from the table and went to the
bathroom and threw up. I knew they were double-teaming me, but I
felt I had no other choice with the bank's attorneys pressing me daily.
I went back to the room with Leroy and Larry and signed the contract
and waited for a copy to send to the bank's attorney. The panic attacks
began again. I could not breathe. I had to pack up a 5-bedroom house
within two weeks, I had to find a storage unit and ask Christine for a
place to stay until my renter's lease ended in November. This would
be my third time moving, and a fourth time once I move back to the
condo in November. I was still exhausted from closing down the
office two weeks earlier.
I went home and realized I was no longer emotionally able to
cope anymore. I could not make any more decisions. I contacted my
college friend, Courtney, the one who brought me to Washington, to
act on my behalf with Leroy regarding the real estate. Courtney's
background in real estate and I knew crazy Leroy could not rattle
Courtney, from the day I met Courtney in college, Courtney has always
had a mother persona, in handling and taking care of business.
Christine and I would always say we were the forever teenagers and
Courtney, the mother. Nothing but love for my sister, someone had
to hold us accountable. Courtney had moved to New Jersey with her
husband and two sons. I designated Christine as the go-between for
Courtney and Leroy in coordinating what needed to be repaired based
on the buyer's inspection. Come to find out, the inspector had
