My Daddy was a chocolate man and wore a uniform. Ironically,
at Leroy's and my wedding reception, the people from Kinston started
calling Leroy "Little Poppa," because he and my father favored so
much. I also had given a mother a big picture of Leroy and I walking
into our reception, and she thought it was a picture of Big Poppa and
me.
Ms. Baseball and I would have this ongoing debate because I felt
that was an uppity attitude, our men with names on their shirts needed
loving too. Sister then had to break it down to me. She said, "You
cannot date a man who is in his forties, making minimum wage, and
you have a salary of $100,000. You are not evenly yoked." Dr. C had
also said something along the same line, but I was still in my passion
for helping everyone. I get the message now, the example Ms. Baseball
used gave me no choice but to reevaluate my thought process about
the men I was automatically attracted to.
The arbitration ended with a trial scheduled in August. I am still
amazed that I had already spent $8,000 for attorney fees; for what? We
had no children, the only thing connecting us was the real estate and
taxes and we had to go to a trial over that B.S.?
At the same time, God was helping me to have a break, the
buyers’ bankers fell through and we had to push the settlement
forward to the end of May. I was able to breathe, and I was also
determined to return to the timesharing we had at Virginia Beach. Our
week was approaching, and I was determined to spend one last time
