wanted to make sure I did not back out because they wanted to make
sure they got their big payday.
When I began to review the settlement papers, the settlement
office, and both real estate agents wanted me to backdate the
signature. Leroy and the buyers had gone to closing the week I went
to Virginia Beach; that was why Larry was so insistent about delivering
the documents to me that week. I had been set-up again. I felt I had
no choice but to sign, so the bank would be paid.
Once I realized what they did, I did have them sitting in their
seats, I told them all I was uncomfortable they were attempting to
have me backdate a legal document and I had to go outside to confirm
with my attorney. I left out of the room I could see the nervousness
in all their eyes they were just dead wrong. I went to the bathroom and
hung out for about 15 minutes when I opened the door from the
bathroom, crazy Leroy and Larry were hanging in the hallway. I
laughed to myself, I had them on the other side for a change, trying to
guess whether I would stay or run. I went back into the office and
signed the documents to finally get rid of that nightmare of a house.
I pulled a switch with them, they wanted me to move by the end
of May, I scratched the move out date and changed it to the end of
June, with June rent coming off the top of the settlement. The
remaining portion of the settlement would go into an escrow account
until the divorce.
