The judge pulled me aside and told me to go ahead and pay the

taxes and by the final date for the divorce, he would have to pay me
half of the taxes. I agreed to it but I was pissed because he is the one

who is making out and I had no clue what tomorrow would bring.
Before he paid the half, I had to show him documentation from the

IRS that the debt had been cleared. I was at the point of whatever, if

that's what it takes to remove him from my life completely, a done
              deal. Finally, officially divorced.

I left the courthouse to begin planning a divorce party. I decided
it was time for a celebration. I decided the divorce party would

coincide with my birthday. It would be a birthday/divorce party. I
used my event planning skills and decided the party would be held at

my favorite neighborhood bar, Reggie’s, who had one of my favorite
bands playing on my birthday. The theme would be from Jill Scott’s

song ‘Living My Life Like Its Golden,” I felt that song truly spoke to
my soul and what I was feeling at the moment.

I also decided to treat the party like a wedding reception; I would
have party favors for my entire party. Christine and I decided to have

two cakes, one for my birthday and one for my divorce. I left Christine
to arrange the details of the cakes. I worked on the party favors. I had

to be creative because every party supply store I went to, had nothing

relating to a divorce party. I decided to create my party favors. For the
birthday party, I would make little bags filled with delightful candy and

bright items with a ribbon that read "New Beginning." For the divorce
party, I would fill the bags with all black items, such as black licorice,
