opportunity to control my destiny. I had become very close with the
client and she identified the firm which would receive the contract
award. She also changed the contract from a one-year contract to a
three-year contract with a value of 3 million dollars. At the same time,
she had negotiated with the firm for a ten-thousand-dollar salary
increase for the Project Director position.
I knew then that I had the power to control my destiny. I went to
an interview with Cox and Associates and was hired immediately. I
had even negotiated a five thousand bonus (which never materialized).
As I was leaving KMP, I was introduced to my future crazy
business partner. He had just been hired on a contract that was ending,
but they neglected to tell him before they had hired him. I kept that in
mind as I moved to the next job, because I was beginning to build my
team for my future business.
