Using Career Relevance to Increase Interest in Math
Join SC STEM Educator of the Year Amy Baldwin and Learning Blade VP, as they
discuss a FREE statewide STEM program Learning Blade, that has over 100 math
lessons connected to STEM careers. Learning Blade’s data demonstrates that
connecting math to STEM careers increases student interest in taking higher level
mathematics classes in high school.

Strategies + Understanding = Fluency
Through activities and discussion, participants will explore strategies that build
number sense and computational fluency. A strategies-based approach prepares
students for success beyond the basic fact range. The strategies and resources in
this session will empower teachers with engaging activities for students.
