if you are in ecommerce, Amazon should be far more important to you than Google, because it has
roughly three times more search volume for products.
“In 2009, nearly a quarter of shoppers started research
for an online purchase on a search engine like Google
and 18 percent started on Amazon according to a
Forrester Research study. By last year almost a third
started on Amazon and just 13 percent on a search
engine. Product searches on Amazon have grown 73
percent over the last year while searches on Google
Shopping have been flat according to comScore."
Unlike traditional search engines that are used to find more
general information, consumers typically use Amazon to
search for products. And, increasingly, the site offers
organic and paid opportunities that enable brands to
capitalize. An April 2017 Forrester study said 31% of US online adults who made a purchase in the past
three months started their shopping research on Amazon – and they did more than 200 billion searches
on the site in 2016. Similarly, a 2016 study from personalization platform Bloom Reach found 55% of
consumers turn to Amazon first when looking for products online.
COOKIES
Many websites including, Amazon and Ebuyer uses cookies to identify and notify a customer or a user of
their transactional website. A Web server has no memory so the hosted Web site you are visiting
transfers a cookie file of the browser on your computer's hard disk so that the Web site can remember
who you are and your preferences. This message exchange allows the Web server to use this
information to present you with customized Web pages. By clicking and accepting cookie policy, a
customer or a user is able to log in as they browse from page to page. A user's browsing history
becomes part of a database which the website then uses to improve the customer experience.
Customer’s or a user’s multiple access or use of the website pages is used by the business companies to
improve their website or businesses. The number of users on a webpage determines how well the site
is.
Cookies pops up on Ebuyer.com
anytime a user refreshes or uses the
website. By clicking continue,
anytime a user uses the website,
Ebuyer identifies the user and it
updates the user on the recent pages
visited. This is when advertising
banners are mostly available on the
site in which a user is using.
In early 2016- 2017, Amazon and Walmart were the best retail competitors. This made both Amazon
and Walmart the most popular transactional website to sell and buy products. Their competition
encourages visitors or audiences to buy or shop from their sites. Customers also purchase from
transactional websites because of their free delivery services and free coupons. For instance, on black
Friday, both Amazon and Walmart gives out free items to customers and or, prices of the product are
therefore reduced. This is done to attract more customers to the business.
