- REDEMPTION -

tive press desensitizes us into believing the worst until the
innocence of a man or woman can be proven in court.
Michael Jackson was not found guilty in a court of law. He
was found guilty through the media in the hearts and minds
of millions of people throughout the world. The media was
being fueled by reports from anyone having anything to say
that seemed to corroborate the child molestation allegations.
The media was willing to pay former employees of Michael
kson thousands of dollars just for the mere accusation of
                           gdoing by him.
The news media operates under a system of reporting in-
ormation that will draw public attention, whether or not it's
true, in order to increase sales or ratings. Although it's not the
media's fault that stories about murders, rapes, wars, turmoil,
scandal and child molestation, especially at the hands of a
public figure, are a box office draw. It's simply the society that
we live in. Some might call it the godless society, but nonethe-
less, reports about people helping one another, doing good
deeds or positive news reporting do not draw the public's at-
tention like a blood dripping sex scandal coated with marsh-
mallows and smothered in cream. Producers and editors are
under constant pressure to compete with other networks and
newspapers. They are not trying to change society by report-
ing positive, wholesome, uplifting and humanitarian stories,
but to boost ratings. There are, however, quality segments on
all newscast programming that gives a spotlight for heroic and
humanitarian reports-just all too rarely reported - they don't
                           boost ratings.
In the following pages I will also address the extortion al-
legation made against Dr. Chandler and Mr. Rothman. It is
my opinion that if the extortion allegation had been investi-
gated as extensively and vigorously as the child molestation
allegation, it may have answered a lot of unanswered ques-
tions. The police left no stone unturned while investigating
