About the eBook
Explosive and functional training
This eBook is about you, the person who wants to be different and the person who wants to train
differently.
Training and staying healthy can be hard work and overwhelming. We all want the benefits of looking
great, feeling great and becoming the best versions of ourselves. Yes, it is hard but nothing worthwhile
comes easy, so you will need to earn that hot body you long for and desire.
I wrote this eBook mainly because, I understand where the fitness industry is currently at, where it
comes from and what it's moving towards.
This is the future of training.
The era of Arnold Schwarzenegger and body building is not so huge in the world of fitness anymore as
compared to the 90s. Isolating certain muscles and having separate workout sessions like Monday you
focus on training the chest, Tuesday you focus on the arms and back area and so forth is outdated. Don’t
get me wrong, a lot of people all over the world still prefer such training methods, however it’s slowly
getting out of “fashion” and more and more people are turning towards functional training, body weight
training and mixing weights with body weight training. This is called hybrid training.
I usually tell my clients that more people are being athletic and more explosive in comparison to having
“larger muscles” like a body builder's type of body. The current trend is incorporating swimming,
sprinting, jumping etc. in the workout routine, hence CrossFit has become so popular in the past few
years as it's versatile and innovative.
Fitness boot camps around the world have also been popular, because of the functionality of training,
body weight training and using the environment around you to train. This is also beneficial because it
lifts the financial burden of having to pay for gym membership of which most people pay for but never
utilize.
Fitness is going back to its “original” era, an era where weights were never used, and gyms where never
built. Just like most man-made objects, inventions and trends in the world, most of these things created
usually go back to its original form. Take fashion for example, people are now wearing items that our
parents used to wear such as clothes from the 90s. Life is a cycle, so same applies for fitness. We are
entering an era of calisthenics, training using just your body weight.
Calisthenics is a Greek word that means, beauty and strength. Remember the movie 300? That’s the era
we are living in today in the fitness industry.
The fact that we have used the gym or weights before makes it difficult to entirely drop them or not use
them at all, hence hybrid training. Mixing the two elements in high intensity.
I will be touching on the importance of functional training, the use of Explosive training and to perform
training correctly and safely, so that you can get the full benefits.
