Front Desk Response When Emergency Telephone Rings (Extension 888)
1. Answer and gather as much information as practical.
2. Disconnect from the call and activate the Lockdown Signal by dialing *62 from the Emergency
Telephone. Do not hang-up the Emergency Telephone after initiating a Lockdown. If you
inadvertently hang up the phone, the Lockdown signal will terminate.
3. Go to the Assistant to the Head of School's Office and Dial 911 from the Assistant to the Head of
School's Office phone and notify the dispatcher of the West Hartford Police Department that a
lockdown emergency exists at Renbrook School.
4. State your name, location of the incident (if possible) and known information of the event.
5. Provide additional information as requested and remain on the line until instructed to hang up.
Lockdown False Alarms
In the case of false alarms with one or two horn blasts, no immediate action is necessary. We will verify the
false alarm and always ring the "all clear" tone in these cases.
FINANCIAL WHISTLEBLOWER POLICY
Renbrook School conducts its financial affairs with utmost integrity. Consistent with this expectation, this policy
is designed to ensure that all employees have access to an appropriate source for sharing any concerns they
may have with regard to the use of the School's resources. No discipline, negative action, or
recrimination shall be applied to any employee coming forward with bona fide concerns.
Due to the relative size of the school community, familiarity and access to the administration is very high.
Therefore, the trustees wish to encourage any employee with concerns regarding misuse of financial resources
to contact the Head of School and/or Chief Financial Officer, directly. Should the nature of the concerns be
such that discussion with either of these individuals would not be comfortable or appropriate, then the trustees
encourage the employee to contact the Chair of the Board of Trustees Finance/Audit Committee.
Any questions on this policy should be directed to the Head of School, Chief Financial Officer, Finance/Audit
Committee Chair and/or the Chair of the Board of Trustees.
HUMAN IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS POLICY (HIV)
Policy
Renbrook encourages any person in the community (including faculty and staff) to report immediately to the
Head of School any health condition including Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) that he or she has
contracted that may call for special measures to protect the health and well-being of the affected person and
others. In the case of an infected student, the student's parents are encouraged to notify the Head of School.
Based on present medical knowledge, there is no reasonable basis for excluding or segregating a student or an
employee simply because he/she has tested positive for HIV antibody or has AIDS. Accordingly, all school
employees will be required to continue working with students and other employees who have tested positive
for the HIV antibody, or have AIDS, but who have been deemed able to continue attending school.
Procedure
The Head of School, upon receiving word from an employee or a parent of a student who has AIDS or who
has a positive antibody test for HIV, will reach a decision regarding school attendance, alterations in program,
and other issues.
