the date of childbirth. Additional medical leave time must be certified by a physician and would be treated as
any other illness subject to the school’s normal vacation, health and special needs leave, short term disability
plan, and long-term disability plans. If any or all of the former benefits have been exhausted, paid leave will
        end.

        Employee Absence Policy
Every recent, important study on learning in schools reveals that the adult leader in the classroom is the single
        biggest factor by far related to quality student learning. Renbrook prides itself in having an excellent faculty;
and at our school, the role that the teacher plays each day is right at the heart of why families pay a premium
to attend Renbrook. Therefore, it is incredibly important that Renbrook teachers come to work every day
unless they are sick, family members are sick, or special circumstances requires them to be absent from
        school.

Employees are immediately credited with two personal and ten sick days for the ensuing year. Part time
employees will receive a proportionate number of days. In either case, the final accounting for faculty days
used versus days earned will be at the end of the school year. Administrators will not ask for a reason
regarding personal days. Teachers may not take personal days on Mondays, Fridays, or to extend a vacation
(without permission from the Head of School).

Teachers are required to make their own arrangements for a substitute teacher using the substitute system
shared by the division heads. If an absence is unexpected due to sudden illness or family member being ill,
teachers may contact the division administrative assistant to find a substitute teacher.

On rare occasions, an employee may have or need an extraordinary opportunity that warrants an additional
day and is an exception to the general rule. If such an occasion arises, the faculty or staff member must
discuss the situation with the Head of School, who will decide whether the extra day can be granted. On the
whole, the school discourages people from asking for extra time off; we have many generous vacation days in
the year, which should allow for plenty of travel time and other opportunities.

If there are any special circumstances regarding absence from school, then the teacher needs to discuss this
with the Head of School. When an administrator feels a teacher is abusing the policy, the Head of School will
        speak directly to the teacher.

Non-teaching employees earn their vacation days on a fiscal year basis – i.e., vacation is earned on August 1
each year immediately following date of hire and must be used by the end of the fiscal year in which it is
earned. Unused vacation days do not carry forward to future school years, nor are they compensated. The
amount of vacation time is dependent on an employee's position.

        Holidays
The School’s holiday schedule will vary year to year as certain dates and days of the week change. In
general all benefit eligible employees are entitled to the following paid holidays:

Independence Day Thanksgiving Day New Year’s Day
Labor Day Day after Thanksgiving Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Rosh Hashanah Christmas Eve President’s Day
