“The land of Suvarnabhumi”, the name of a land
mentioned in ancient documents and allegories,
means “Land of Gold” or fertile land, as mentioned in
“Phra Maha Janaka” - a story written by His Majesty
ดินแดนสุวรรณภูมิ King Bhumibol Adulyadej in 1996. The story,
extracted from Buddhist scripture (Phra Suttanta Pitaka

Suvarnabhumi and the ship was wrecked at sea.
He kept persevering in his efforts to swim to the shore.
In 235 B.E., King Asoka the Great held a conference
to revise and sort out the Buddhist scriptures. After that,
he sent some missionaries to teach Buddhism
in Suvarnabhumi where people adopted Buddhism from
then on. According to documents and allegories,
Suvarnabhumi is east of India, so it is obvious that it refers
to the areas of the Southeast Asian Peninsula, lying between
the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. Thus, it lies on

the trade route between India and China, also known as the
trading center of both eastern and western countries.
