บางพาน In 2011, Barend Jan Terwiel analysed
the river map drafted by Françcoins Valentijn and
published during the reign of King Narai the Great.
The map consisted of three parts with different scales.
กําแพงเพชร The first two showed information from the mouth of
the Gulf of Thailand to Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya,
N
based on the information collected by
European visitors who had visited Thailand.
8 km. The third part included a vast territory from the area
subsequent to Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya to Isan land
in the northeast despite the fact that there had been
no evidence or reports about European
visits in this region during that period. When comparing
the information about routes and places on the map
as well as its model with the strategic map in the reign of
King Ramathibodi I, it was understood that
the strategic map was based on the information
available in the original strategic map used in that period.
It was concluded that the original strategic map
used as an underlying model of the map
from the reign of King Ramathibodi I was
a local map made before the arrival of Europeans,
De Groote Siamese Rivier Me-nam, as published by Francois Valentijn (after Barend Jan Terwiel in ABHINANDANAMALA : Nandana Chutiwongs, 2010) and prior to the reign of King Narai the Great.
