simplified explanation of one aspect of how

acupuncture helps the body heal and function more

effectively.

Overview

As we stated previously, the cells which support

the neurons and the environment which surrounds

the neurons is crucial to their health and function.

Acupuncture has been shown to improve motor

symptoms in Parkinson's disease by affecting the

support cells including the astrocytes. (Deng et al,

2015; Nom et al 2015) Other studies of

acupuncture on patients suffering from Parkinson's

disease have demonstrated improved motor

function and decreased neuron degeneration. (Lin

et al 2017).
