CHAPTER 11 – RISK 1: SUMMARISING AND ANALYSING DATA
11.1 The completed cumulative frequency distribution table is:
Days absent Cumulative number of people
0 94
1 – 5 297
6 – 10 402
11 – 20 470
21 – 30 485
31 – 40 495
41 + 500
11.2 B
An ogive doesn't have bars. A bar chart looks similar to a histogram but in a bar
chart the height of the bar represents the frequency. In a histogram this is only
the case if the classes are of equal width. In general the area of the bar in a
histogram represents class frequency.
11.3 B and D
The mean = (50, 57, 43, 52, 43, 62, 43) ÷ 7 = 50.
The median is the value of the middle item in a distribution. Put the results in
order:
43, 43, 43, 50, 52, 57, 62
There are 3 marks above 50 and 3 marks below, so the mode is 50.
The mode is the value which appears the most frequently. The mode is 43 as
43 appears 3 times.

There are 360° in a circle, so if wages represent 60° that is of total cost:
