sure that they were not leaving anything behind. He picked up his cigarettes
and lit one and took a deep drag off the cigarette while putting the pack inside
of his pocket. He had not said a word to Regina, not even made eye contact
with her. Finally, he said, let’s go as they were leaving the room. Raheem
and Dee Dee were coming out of the other room, Dee Dee handed Regina
her purse. Vance told Dee Dee they were going back to her house and he
would be riding with her and Regina was going to ride with Raheem.
But, before they left Vance went back inside the motel to find the Spanish
maid that worked the floor where their rooms were located; the same one that
helped them out earlier. Vance said, my friend I need another favor; what’s
the favor the Spanish maid asked? I need you to go in the room my lady
friends were in and untie the guy in the room. Is he dead the maid asked? Me
do not want to be involved. No, no, no, Vance said, he is not dead he is just
tied up. Here is another $500.00; afterward you untie him let the desk clerk
know we have checked out of both rooms. Okay I do it if the guy not dead. By
the way Vance asked, what is your name? Antonia, the maid said. It means
invaluable, she said and they both laughed. Vance said, I’ll call you at the
desk in about an hour to see how it went.
Regina began crying after they pulled onto the highway and headed back to
Dee Dee’s house. Raheem asked her why was she crying. Regina said, he is
not even talking to me, he do not even want to be around me, that’s why he
is riding with Dee Dee. Raheem started laughing, is that what you think,
Regina you guys are riding separately for safety reasons, because you and
