SUMMARY

                                                          Introduction
There is a historical tradition that livestock populations have been raised and

bred relying on rangelands only under severe natural and climatic conditions in our

country for the centuries since ancient times.
As described in 2012 report of National Statistics Office, 35.0% of all labor forces

in Mongolia were working in agriculture sector. As well, agriculture sector produces
14.6% of GDP of Mongolia and more than 80% of the former are produced by animal

husbandry/ Also approximately 7.0% of total export incomes were made from this
                  sector.

Improvement of food consumption and supply for human populations via

intensification and development of agriculture, particularly animal husbandry is one of
the vital issues not only for our country, but also for worldwide countries.

Because Mongolian livestock is raised on pasture only, minority of them are fed
with naturally derived supplement during winter and spring seasons, ecologically clean

conditions of milk and other raw materials is the most valuable characteristic.
With the growth of global human populations consumption of protein rich

products is also increasing. On the other hand, consumption and value of ecologically

clean food products with natural origins are enhancing due to critical necessity of food
                  product safety.

For our country with pasture based animal husbandry, it is possible to compete in

worldwide market by managing animal husbandry via more optimal ways in harmony
with changing climatic conditions relying on such advantages and quality of ecologically

                  clean products.
Therefore, proper governmental policy has been necessary to analyze current

situation of animal husbandry, create suitable structure of herd/flock, turn livestock
populations into economically beneficial circulations, and ensure product quality and

                  safety.

Economical benefits of animal husbandry can be increased via implementation of
optimal policy relied on detailed studies and realistic conclusions regarding the issues of

                  reproduction of livestock populations.
                                                       Materials and methods

Data were collected from National Statistics Office information on livestock sector
in 2005-2012 and these data were analyzed by use of “Data analysis” software to obtain

annual average parameters and prognosis in forthcoming years.
