Technology and Social Media Acceptable Use
The technology policy below applies to all employees, contractors,
temporary workers and volunteers of MTR.
Personal Use of Company Equipment and Supplies
Computers, business equipment, supplies and the like are for business
use and should not be used for personal matters. Abuse or misuse of Company computers, supplies or
the like may result in corrective action including or leading to termination.
Acceptable Use of Company Property
Special care should be exercised when utilizing, storing, and transporting Company issued equipment. If
equipment is damaged or misplaced, MTR will investigate the situation and determine if the employee
will be responsible for reimbursement to MTR at the market value rate for any issued equipment that is
lost, stolen, or damaged when taken off company property.
Electronic Communication and Technology
Electronic communications are herein defined as “Any writings, images, or multimedia which are created,
displayed, transmitted or stored on one or several electronic communications systems.”
MTR provides several technology-based communication systems to its employees (voice mail, electronic
mail, computers, fax capabilities, instant messaging, and access to the Internet). The purpose of these
systems is to assist us in the conduct of essential Company business.
Every employee is responsible for using the electronic mail (e-mail) system properly and in accordance
with this policy. Any questions about this policy should be addressed to your manager, a member of the
IT department, or the Human Resources department.
The e-mail system is the property of MTR. We have provided the e-mail system for use in conducting
Company business. All communications and information transmitted by, received from, or stored in this
system are Company records and is Company property. No expectation of employee privacy exists insofar
as the right of MTR to monitor and inspect the content of electronic communications, with or without the
sender/recipient’s knowledge and/or consent.
You are reminded to be courteous to other users of the system and always to conduct yourself in a
professional manner. The e-mail system is not to be used to create any offensive or disruptive
messages. Confidentiality of e-mail messages should not be assumed. MTR reserves the right to review,
audit, intercept, access and disclose all e-mail messages sent or received, via our internal system or the
Internet.
