Methodology
Background & Methodology
The studied community included several areas of Aleppo and Idleb governorates that are under
different military, economic, and administrative situations. Also, as the field researchers belong to
different CSOs, it was important to focus on the importance of joint coordination among researchers
under Shaml, and to provide a unified approach in data collection. By doing so, we tried to ensure
that sub-groups categorized according to age, gender, education, profession, location, residency
type (host/displaced) were similar in all of the studied sub-districts.
Sampling
The overall population in the targeted sub-districts reaches up to 544,250 thousand people,
according to latest estimations, the minimal required sample size has been calculated according to
2
Robert-Mason equation to be 1065 people. The number was then distributed over the sub-districts
according to their relevant population size and we have exceeded the minimum number of
questionnaires to reach 1328.
