Chapter 11: Conclusion

We won’t confuse you even more with the famed nut diet. You might have
heard of it. All the people we know who used it have lost weight – without
changing their eating patterns too much. Warning bells, people – there is
always a price to pay, and nobody escapes it. All the people we know who
used “The Nut” got horribly sick – two of them landed in hospital. So thinking
you can continue to polish off two chocolate cakes for breakfast and lose
weight by using “Leanor” or something similar – well, we are not going to lie
to you. This book offers you the harder – and better – route. As they say,
nothing in life worth doing comes easily. Your body is your temple. Let’s
        leave it at that.

So, you may be wondering what the best outcome is for you, based on all this
        info.

You might be interested to know that William Banting himself tried several
diets prescribed by several doctors before he found one that worked for him
        – that which today bears his name.

        What’s our point?

You really have to figure out what works for you. As you know, our writer,
Rob, does not believe in a diet that does not contain carbs, and his thinking is
supported by evidence from the American Dietetic Association, who simply
        put it like this:

“Calories cause weight gain. Excess calories from carbohydrates are not any
more fattening than calories from other sources.”

Even so, you may be adamant that low-carb or no-carb is the only way for
you. Great! If that’s what works, then do that.
