Oh, and PS – we lied. The American Dietetic Association also says, and we
        quote, “There is no magic bullet to safe and healthful weight loss.” We just
        used the “magic bullet” point to highlight the overarching sales pitch of each
        programme.

        Eating out

        Let’s talk for a moment on how to control your diet when eating out. Weight
        Watchers recommends that you “save” points from one of your other days to
        consumer on a day when you are eating out, although you are only allowed
        to save a certain number of those points.

        Eating out can derail a diet quite easily. The best advice we can give you is
        to eat sensibly.

        Here are some calorie guidelines for food favourites when you are out having
        some fun:

              Strawberry daiquiri = 200 calories
              Springbok shooter (who can only have one?) = 150 calories
              4 glasses of red wine = 350 calories
              Bread roll with butter = 180 calories
              2 Spring rolls = 350 calories
              1 portion Halloumi cheese deep fried = 670 calories
              300g ribs = 900 calories
              Original spur burger = 1274 calories
              100g deep fried chips = 380 calories
              Serving of onion rings = 340 calories
              Side mushroom sauce = 120 calories
              1 tot of after-dinner liqueur = 120 calories
              Cappuccino = 120 calories
