3.0 Scope

The scope of this document is to catalogue the personnel skills sets and training
requirements for the members of the Osprey Powerboat Rescue Team Ltd. to enable
the Team to ensure that every foreseeable accident scenario within the racing
events the Team attend can be covered effectively and efficiently.

When operated as the Osprey Powerboat Rescue Team Ltd. ALL personnel are
Suitably Qualified Experienced Personnel (SQEP) and have received the appropriate
training for the role(s) that they perform on the boat and are of satisfactory fitness to
do so. The MCA Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) (Ref 2) provides the necessary
guidelines for training, qualifications and fitness to be considered satisfactory for
crewing rescue boats.

The training and qualifications are detailed later in this paper but include:

i) Scuba diver training up to CMAS 3 equivalence (Ref 4)

ii) Trauma first aid training

iii) Oxygen Administration

iv) Rescue and recovery from enclosed and open cockpit boats

v) RYA Level 2 Powerboat Certificate (Helmsman) (Ref 2)

vi) RYA Safety Boat Certificate

vii) Health and Safety Procedures (Ref 3)

viii) Manual Handling Procedures

ix) Radio Communication skills (Ref 2)
