Troubleshooting
The next step requires that the Alert is energized by the extremal source. Measure the
voltage at the LINE/L1 IN terminal. The expected voltage will vary from installation to
installation, but it should always be present at this terminal. For example, if the Alert relay is
switching a 24 Vdc signal, then 24 Vdc should always be present at the LINE/L1 IN terminal.
• If the voltage at this terminal is not correct, this indicates a problem with the wiring
between the GuardII+ and the plant system.
The next step requires that the relay be energized; this can be done using the Alert button
on the Carrier Board. Before energizing the relay, it may be helpful to temporarily disconnect
the lead at the LINE/L1 OUT terminal to prevent nuisance Alerts on the system connected to
the monitor during Alert relay testing.

• If the Alert relay is configured for Normally-Closed operation, press the Alert button to
clear all Alerts. Otherwise, press and hold the Alert button for more than 10 seconds
to force the relay contacts to close.
Measure the voltage at the LINE/L1 OUT terminal; this should be the same as the voltage
measured at the LINE/L1 IN terminal.
• If the voltage is correct at the LINE/L1 OUT terminal, this indicates that the monitor is
functioning properly. The problem is likely in the connection to the plant system.
• If the voltage is not correct at the LINE/L1 OUT terminal, this indicates a problem with
the AC Termination board; contact Iris Power LP Technical Support for assistance.
Press the Alert button again to reset the Alert relay once troubleshooting is finished.
