GRACE, Exploring Its Riches
had he not seized the moments of being alone in the
Waterless Pit, then in Portiphar’s house, and the time he
spent in prison to shape himself. Those times looked like he
had been cheated, first by his brothers, then Mrs Portiphar,
and when he appeared forgotten in prison. However God
used those lonely moments to shape, train and equip him
for the unique destiny ahead of him.
Eventually, what he learned in those seasons gave him great
stature and an uncommon grace to lead, administer huge
resources and teach the elders of the foreign land in which
divine destiny shoved him. Most of all, his character was
shaped. He learned to ascribe glory to God for whatever he
achieved or attained. He could also relate to his brothers
without hate, offenses or bitterness. The Bible records,
“Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they
brought him quickly out of the dungeon; and he
shaved, changed his clothing, and came to
Pharaoh. And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I have
had a dream, and there is no one who can interpret
it. But I have heard it said of you that you can
understand a dream, to interpret it.” So Joseph
answered Pharaoh, saying, “It is not in me; God
will give Pharaoh an answer of peace”
(Genesis 41:14-16).
