GRACE, Exploring Its Riches
temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both
listening to them and asking them questions. And
all who heard Him were astonished at His
understanding and answers. So when they saw
Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to
Him, “Son, why have You done this to us? Look,
Your father and I have sought You anxiously.”
And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me?
Did you not know that I must be about My
Father’s business?” But they did not understand
the statement which He spoke to them.”
Second, we noticed when God wanted to get Jesus
ready for His public ministry or life’s assignment God
compelled Him to be driven to the desert, or
wilderness. Luke 4:1-2 says,
“Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit,
returned from the Jordan and was led by the
Spirit into the wilderness, being tempted for forty
days by the devil. And in those days He ate
nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He
was hungry.”
Mark’s account (1:11-13) chronicles the incident this way:
“Then a voice came from heaven, “You are My
beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
