The Dangers of Grace
iii. Comparing the violators of Moses’ law and the
grace of Jesus:
Violators of Moses’ law were condemned to death; and
violators of Christ’s grace attract to themselves a much
worse punishment. (Heb. 10:29)
iv. Three Things Violators of Grace Do (but which
we must avoid by all means):
a. They trample the Son of God underfoot. To
thread upon either as a conquered territory or as
something of no value, or something that has lost
its value.
b. They make common the blood of the New
Covenant. This implies that they treat the blood of
Jesus the same way they treat the blood of cows and
goats.
c. They despise or insult the Spirit of grace. There is a
complete disregard or outright insult to the Spirit
of God through whom the grace of our Lord Jesus
Christ comes to us.
The implication of all these is that when Christians make a
habit or practice of sinning, these three things are what they
do. It is so we desist from sinning that Hebrews 2:1-3
warns,
“Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to
the things we have heard, lest we drift away. For if
the word spoken through angels proved steadfast,
