help interviewers see your specialized skills and interests and
how you can fit into the organization.
Ace the interviews– Most people dread internship and job inter-
views. The spotlight is on you and you don't always know what the
interviewer is looking for with their questions and comments. Once
you've put together your career portfolio, you'll know with confi-
dence the answers to the tough interview questions. You will know
your skills inside and out and be able to show examples of what you

Career Portfolios in Hard Copy Format
A hard copy career portfolio is a 3-ring binder that contains all your
documents and samples in an organized way. All your work samples
and documents are put in sheet protectors and organized by tabs to
focus on the key skills you want to promote.
Here are a few things you should know about the hard copy format:
It is used in a personal interview to show actual samples of your
work and copies of your certificates, awards, etc.
It is NOT a scrapbook of everything you've done, it's a collection
of your best work.
It's easy to customize for an interview– just swap different
samples in and out of the binder.
You don't have to have computer access during the interview.
A hard copy career portfolio has a great pass around factor. If
you have several people in the interview, your career portfolio
may take a tour of the room– giving your samples some good
exposure and creating talking points for you.
