But man uses prosperity as a sign God is pleased.
Maiiid is doing just that. We justify our weaknesses
-A by our successes. We seem to be saying, "Wàfe rich
andtherous; we must be right." "Things are going
/ so good, God must be well pleased."
Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased
with goods, and have need of nothing; and know-
est not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and
poor, and blind, and naked.
(Revelation 3:17 xiv)
When a society gets rich and prosperous, it becomes
blinded to its spiritual bankruptcy. Yes, we are "rich
and increased with goods, and have need of nothing."
But the Bible says, "Riches Mofit . not in the day of
wrath" (Proverbs 1 14 xjv). A temporary boom is
God's last "goodness call" to a forgetful society. In a
time of prosperity, men forget God and provoke Him to
come forth as a lion to destroy.
So I will come upon you like a lion, or a leopard
lurking along the road. I will rip you to pieces like
a bear whose cubs have been taken away, and like
a lion I will devour you.
(Hosea 13:7,8 LB)
When? God will come forth as a lion to judge the
unprepared in a time of "dwelling at ease" an4jyng up
goods.", This nation wants perpetual comfort and never-
ending pleasures. We have overestimated success and
have become a nation of proud peacocks. Reason has
given way to self-intoxication. And because success cult-
ists cannot handle disappointments, this nation is tern-
fled by the very thought of deprivation and sorrow.

7, All Escape Routes Cut Off
When judgment fails, God cuts off all avenues of eva-
sion. All escape routes are cut off, because of the peo-
