Lesson 2 What Are The Odds…?
Classroom
1. Post a Quote in the room (whiteboard, flipchart, etc.) relevant to the day’s
material (Use highlighted quotes in the workbook if you would like)
2. Introduction Story: There are natural laws and principles for the universe we live in. If I hold
this book in the air and let go of it right now what will happen? (Demonstrate this by holding then
dropping a book or other object) It falls. Why? Gravity. There is no escaping Newton’s Law. What I’m
getting at is we live in a universe of natural laws and principles that govern events and outcomes.
The principles you are learning in this program are no different. They are laws, they are formulas,
when you apply them to your life they will have a positive impact. These are things most people are
not taught but just like gravity they are impacting your life whether you know it or not. Why not use
them for positive change?
3. Review
a. In Lesson 1 you were given an understanding of what a habit is, how it is formed and how to go
about changing it.
b. Review Lesson 1 Key words and points of emphasis. Ask members of the class to elaborate on each
of these and site any examples / stories / experiences they have had concerning them.
c. Review Homework: You were asked to pick a single area and habit you’d like to focus on and
change over the duration of this course. Who would like to share theirs and elaborate on how you
plan to change your routine?
4. Play Lesson 2 video “What are the Odds?”
5. Class Dialogue:
a. Share your personal story regarding the motivation scales and the difference between
internal and external motivators.
b. Reference: Lesson 2 Key Words. Review these with the class and open the room for
questions and dialogue.
I. The image we want you to memorize for this lesson are the scales. Whenever you
find that you are lacking motivation, think about the scales. Are you tipping them in your
favor and increasing your odds by working harder? When you’re not, look at your
wristband and remember the only person U cheat is U.
6. Homework/Reading Assignment:
Read Lesson 2: “What are the odds?” parts one and two in your workbook.
