Moving from Spotlight to Floodlight Thinking: Two Procedures to Enhance
                                        Metacognition in our Cyber Classrooms
                                               Presented By: Jennifer Adrienne
                                                Target Audience: High School

Metacognitive teaching leads to deeper, more meaningful learning for students. Teachers will be offered two
cyber classroom procedures for enhancing student metacognition. Live session and course platform
template slides, rubrics, and directions will be provided for both strategies. Strategy #1: Small, stable
student groups create a classroom that feels safe to learn and to grow. Strategy #2: Writing — and revising
writing — can be a path for students to regulate their own learning and thinking. On a practical note, the
AWC makes it possible for teachers to handle a lot of writing assessments
