ALEXANDRIA – Apple picking time is underway, and while Cardigan Mountain Orchard in Alexandria has nearly 1,000 trees of 15 variet- ies spread across their 20-acre orchard, due to a closed bridge on Mount Cardigan Road, the only thing the Bleiler family has been lacking this season are people to come enjoy a day on their scenic farm. But, have no fear, if it is closed when you go to the farm, the detour is an enjoyable drive and not much longer than the familiar route everyone is used to.
The Bleiler family pur- chased the orchard in the 1970s. There were already some apple trees growing on the farm, so Nancy and Steve started adding more and mak- ing it their new lifestyle. As their children grew, so did the orchard, and now they, too, are a part of the business.
Cardigan Mountain Orchard is open with plenty of apples, pumpkins and other goods now available and Stephen Bleiler, his dad Steve and the rest of the family invite everyone to come experience the beauty of fall at their scenic Alexandria farm. Photo by Donna Rhodes

cider for those chilly fall days that are coming soon. There are also maple syrup and can- dies, apple butter, jams, some

But when they get clogged with gunk, they can’t do their job, and you’re left with costly nightmares like basement flooding, foundation cracks, and wood rot.
