Listen: Happy Marines Listen: Describing Lt
             in the Morning GS Shooting

“Break, break. All vehicles this is Delta 6. Let’s fire off the Hoggs and
tighten up this formation. Form up a Company Wedge. Get your intervals.”
And with that, every engine of Delta Company began to roar.
Approximately 3 minutes later, as the turbos found their tempo, Delta
moved like a well-trained, well-oiled machine, into the Company Wedge
requested by Capt Pollard. I had heard Rock’s commands and the
development of these commands. Gunny and I swung a hard-right turn and
peeled to the rear of the formation. The LAV-25s were positioned perfectly,
with their turrets covering each perspective field of fire.
Now, Delta Company was poised for either an attack or to defend.
Delta 5 had pushed to the center of the formation, approximately 50 meters
behind American Hero, who was at the tip of the spear. Gunny never liked
lingering in the back of the formation and ordered me to move up to Missile
          Magnet’s eight o’clock.
“Stay about 50 meters off of the 1stLt.”
“Roger that Gunny.” And so, we did.
Everybody was on board their vehicles as we just stayed in formation
with the engines running. After a couple of minutes, Rock came over the net,
“Alright let’s go ahead and shut the vehicle engines down now that we’re in
position. We’re in a holding pattern right now, Battalion has us shut down, as
they are receiving new information minute by minute. Scouts set up a roving
watch. Gentlemen stay close to your vehicle, keep 50% turret watch, and
drivers perform vehicle maintenance. Make a good inspection of your tires
          and planetaries.”
“Delta 6, Delta 6, this is Delta 10, on the recovery vehicle. If there is a
large foreign object in any of the tires, let’s make vehicle Commanders aware
not to pull or extract those articles of debris, rather alert Delta 10 so we can
take a look first… Rather than someone pull that item and create a situation
with one of the tires losing air.”
“Roger that Delta 10. Delta Company, did you hear the Ten?”
                 Delta One, “Roger.”
                 Delta Two, “Copy.”
Minutes turned to hours and the day began its slow progression.
“Hell, what’s going on ya think?
