REAR AXLE COVERS Remove mufflers. See EXHAUST SYSTEM: FXSTD/ FLSTF/FLSTN in the Softail Models Service Manual. See Figure 2-4. Remove fasteners, washers and right and left axle covers. See Figure 2-25. Remove spring clip and loosen axle Loosen jam nut and back out axle adjusters. Slide left rear axle cover mounting Figure 2-26. bracket to the rear and off axle. Push axle through the rear fork far enough to remove right axle cover bracket. Slide right rear axle cover bracket to the rear and off
